CONFERENCE

Unlocking the Potential of Open Source Information in the Fields of Migration and Trafficking

19 July 2024
Thessaloniki, Greece

ABOUT

The Unlocking the potential of open source information in the fields of migration and trafficking event, organised under the umbrella of the EU-funded project CRiTERIA (Comprehensive data-driven Risk and Threat Assessment Methods for the Early and Reliable Identification, Validation and Analysis of migration-related risks), aims to act as an interactive platform fostering the debate on the most challenging and novel issues in the fields of migration and trafficking. The event seeks to better understand how different types of information and technologies can be harnessed to aid in both preventing and investigating cross-border crimes, but also to identify and support victims and other vulnerable communities directly affected. As such, the organisers are seeking contributions in good practices and tools that positively contribute to enhancing knowledge in this field as well as studies on existing gaps and persistent challenges.

The 1-day event includes several panels and technology demonstrations and will bring together stakeholders from the academic world, policy-makers, civil society and international organisations working in the field of migration and trafficking.

Target audience: Law enforcement, policy-makers, NGOs working in the fields of migration or trafficking (e.g. trafficking in human beings, drugs trafficking).
